Hi guys, I haven’t been updating you for a while so I thought I’d hit you with this! This is another layout made by me, and this is my favorite type of layouts.I have pretty much completely free hands, they give me the pictures and the text and the rest is up to me (except for what fonts to use).I just love these type of pages ‘cause theyre so much fun to do, like I’ve said before, it’s sort of like laying a puzzle. It can be annoying at first, but when you start to manage to fit the pieces together so that the page looks good, it’s one of the best feelings in the world! Woho!

Here’s another layout I’ve made! I have to admit, I’m kinda showing you this layout because I love the clothes, not because of the way I made the page ( This page looks pretty much just the same in each number, but with new clothes on it of course).I want the pants! I don’t know why, but I really like them!It looks chill but at the same time a bit dressy. Yeah, I’m so getting those pants.

If you happen to care

Good morning to all of you! I’m just loving today.
The sun is shining, i have the sickest, brightest orange sweater on and as if that wasn’t enough, it’s pancakes day here at work today! Wohoo!
I’m making a layout of bikinis right now (might be one of the reasons for why I feel so “summerish”) and wow.. This is probably one of the hardest things I’ve gotten to do so far?
It’s so much fun, I love it when I have to kind of puzzle things together, bit by bit. But it’s really a big difference working with normal clothes and working with bikinis. I’m going to show you guys the layout later, when the magazine is out, and explain it all to you in a better way.
Now? Pancakes.

The new issue is out in stores now! Almost forgot to tell you guys! In this issue I’ve really made quite a few pages, and it was sooo exciting to get to see everything you’ve done. Like I told you the other day, I’m nervous eeevery time. Wondering if what I’ve done looked good, or if I did something wrong..If you want to read more about this months issue you can go to this page! From one thing to another.. WOW am I in a drawing-mode haha. It was so much fun to draw that dreamcatcher that I’m currently making a huge painting of another one. I really feel like painting a dreamcatcher directly on one of the walls in the appartment as well haha, have I gone crazy?? Could look pretty cool though. We’ll see. I’ve also made a drawing of a hand, going to show it to you guys later! Until then, take care!

It’s a new week, so I thought I’d hit you with another layout! These pages “Femina Nytt” are one of the first pages in the magazine. It shows a little bit of this and a little bit of that..
You have no idea how much fun a page like this can be. You can do whatever you want with it, as long as it looks good haha. I must say it was a bit tricky but oh so much fun, and you really learn colours and shapes by laying pages like these! Besides the normal (apprenticeship) this is a special week. On wednesday I’m moving to my new appartment! I’ve almost forgotten what it looks like! I can’t wait until I’m settled! This should also be my last week working at Femina, but great news you guys, my apprenticeship has been extended! So I’ll be here until March 16!! (Not sure if I’ve told you that before or not?) It feels soooo gooood to get your apprenticeship extended. Especially at a fun magazine like this one! First of all, it means that I’m not a complete mess, and second of all, it means that i wont be ranting around in my appartment having nothing to do.. So thumbs up on that one! Have a nice day!(btw, the layouts may look a bit weird at times, this is because the pictures I show you hasnt been edited completely. With other words these pictures are pretty much my scetches, that then goes to “repro” where they fix all the little things, like white lines around some pictures etc.. aaand sorry for my english today, I’m a bit tired..)

I thought I’d hit you with another layout made by me! This was actually my first assignment when I came to Femina. So these are the first 6 pages I’ve ever created!
Ironicly, I think pages like these are the hardest.. Why?
Well.. I don’t know really.. I think it’s just a personal thing. When you have a big photo with so much room it’s kinda hard to decide where the text should be. It has to look good, not disturb the rest of the picture, not take over, be easy to read and not hide any clothes. (etc etc)
This particulair job was a bit more tricky than others since there was more than just one text, but it was so much fun!

Since I came to Femina i probably know 10x more about fashion and different brands haha. Not complaining! The sad part is that I’ve probably fallen for 10x more clothes now aswell, and I have no money!! Hahaha

Oh yea by the way, I added the femina logo on every picture ‘cause it felt kind of weird uploading photos from a magazine that just came out.. I hope it doesn’t disturb too much, let me know!

Buongiorno! As promised, here’s one of the pages I’ve made from the february issue. What do you think? The reason for why I chose to show you this layout today is because this page was one of my first, and really fun to work with! It’s like a puzzle, and it can be quite tricky sometimes. If youre going to make a page like this, my suggestion is to start with the pictures, see what goes together etc. Then find room for the text at the end. Otherwise there’s a big risk that everything just looks caotic and you keep forgetting what your idea was all the time. (I learnt that the hard way).. Haha. Another good thing to keep in mind is that you should be aware that youre stuck if you’ve been moving things around for more than 30-40 minutes. Save the page and start over, make something completely different, then come back and look through the first page you made again, and trust me you’ll see everything in a different light. Also, try to pick up the same colour every once in a while, for example, I chose to pick up the turqoise bottle’s colour for the background of number three, and then I retook it and made nr 6 the same colour again! This make’s the page float together a bit better.I think that’s about it.. I hope you like what I’ve made! More layouts will be shown every now and then! I just want to let the issue breathe a bit more..

Long time no see! And I swear to god I have TWO decent reasons for why I never post anything anymore.. But before I tell you, I’m going to tell you how my apprenticeship has been so far. I love it. I love everything about it and i finally know precisely what i want to work with in the future. Layout is so much fun! Work (something I’ve always imagined would be tough, boring and slooow) is actually something I look forward to every day! I love the way things work at a magazine. How organized and yet “chaotic” everything is. And the best part of it all, that you work together with people as a team. The last few weeks has given me so much. The people at Femina really has tought me a lot and I’m learning new things every day. But the best part is probably that I finally have begun to believe in myself. I can do this! And it warms my heart everytime i hear someone say “very good job Antonia” or letting me know straight out that I have what it takes to become a really good graphic designer! Now for the two reasons on why I’ve been so quiet lately. The first reason is simple: I can’t show you guys anything yet. I have to wait for the magazine to be out in the stores before I can show off my work that’s in it. The second reason is that I’ve had so much to do! I start working at 8-9 and end at 4-5. Normal, I know.. But when I get home I just want to relax. I can’t wait to show you guys the pages that I’ve done so far though! The picture (bad quality again, sorry)  is of my desk at work! Magazines on top of magazines, papers with the new layouts I’m going to do and even more papers with the layouts that I’ve done already! And this pic is AFTER I’ve organized it. So I hope this will give you some more patience. Because new updates are coming, I swear! And with the layouts I’m going to give you some tips that I learned while doing them, so hang in there!
