I love… and hate fashion.
I love what a great power fashion holds. How strong you can feel in an outfit. How much you can crave a specific clothing, how you can fall in love with a photo shoot cause of the clothes the model is wearing. I hate how fashion sometimes can break people down. “Force” people to buy a specific wardrobe or make some people feel uncomfortable when they realize they’re using last season colors.
Have you seen the documentary about Vogue - The September Issue (2009) ?
If not, and you’re interested in fashion, layout, photographing or whatever, you should.
It’s the real world, and you’ll probably both love and hate it.
“Fashion is not about looking back, it’s always about looking forward.”
- Anna Wintour (Vogue editor-in-chief)
That particular line got me thinking. She’s so right, and not only when it comes to fashion. I also realized that this probably is my biggest weakness. I love looking back, I always do it. Even if I often move forward rather quickly, I tend to look back a lot. Miss things, styles, old memories, whatever. To be honest I hate changes. I hate miniature changes like updating my Facebook design.. And I wish we still had the old school cars.. (no, not the 90’s, further back please…) ..the CD’s and the Dvd’s thats now slowly disappearing and becoming downloads and blu-ray discs. But to be honest, even if we were to bring these old things back, the fact still stands that it’s 2012.. No matter how much we toss and turn it around. You have to walk away from one door in order to be able to open the next one.
Does this mean that I can’t work with fashion and media? Nah.. I don’t think so.. I might not become the next editor-in-chief of Vogue though… Or will I? ;) Haha.
