Don’t worry, I’m alive..

Howdy everybody, I know.. I suck. I’m really bad at updating. But I’m working on it, and frankly, there’s not much I can show off yet.. However, the new issue (no. 8) is due to come out any day now and THEN I can start to show some of the stuff I’ve been doing lately.

I’ve also made a few painting for my appartment that I’d like to show.. Nothing spectacular, but I still like showing it here on the blog since not everybody are “born” artists, and sometimes it’s nice to realize that you don’t have to be in order to make your own art. Having stuff on the walls made by you makes your home way more personal.

I’ve also made a new logo for an upcoming company, but I can’t show you that either because the company actually needs to excist and be in business first…

…aaand for the next issue (no. 9) I’m actually going to be in it myself! It’s for a page in our magazine where three to four different employees gets to pick four different things they like and approve! Da-da-daaa’ what will I pick!?? ;)

So, hang in there wonderful readers, I’m not dead - I’m just working. Haha..

I’m back!

Today was my first day back at Femina, and oh my god am I glad to be back!!
And this time, not as an apprentice, but as a “summer-substitute” or whatever I should call it. The point is I’m staying for atleast 3 months! 
Finally, finally I have a real job as a graphic designer!

So it pretty much took me exactly one year after uni from today to get to this point.
“This point” being working at a huge fashion magazine as a layout substitute.
It’s a nice progress! And the best part is that it can get ever better! :)

So, hopefully I’ll start updating you guys a little bit more often now again, since I’ll do graphic design stuff 9-5 I should have something to write about every now and then!

My last week

So this is my last week at Femina.
It’s sad, but I was supposed to leave in February, so I’m happy I got to stay until now. I have these weird mixed feelings about all of this that I can’t describe. I’ll have to get back to you once I’ve figured it out.

Anyways, we’re one short this week, so there’s a lot of work to be done!

Here’s another layout I’ve made! I have to admit, I’m kinda showing you this layout because I love the clothes, not because of the way I made the page ( This page looks pretty much just the same in each number, but with new clothes on it of course).I want the pants! I don’t know why, but I really like them!It looks chill but at the same time a bit dressy. Yeah, I’m so getting those pants.

The new issue is out in stores now! Almost forgot to tell you guys! In this issue I’ve really made quite a few pages, and it was sooo exciting to get to see everything you’ve done. Like I told you the other day, I’m nervous eeevery time. Wondering if what I’ve done looked good, or if I did something wrong..If you want to read more about this months issue you can go to this page! From one thing to another.. WOW am I in a drawing-mode haha. It was so much fun to draw that dreamcatcher that I’m currently making a huge painting of another one. I really feel like painting a dreamcatcher directly on one of the walls in the appartment as well haha, have I gone crazy?? Could look pretty cool though. We’ll see. I’ve also made a drawing of a hand, going to show it to you guys later! Until then, take care!

I thought I’d hit you with another layout made by me! This was actually my first assignment when I came to Femina. So these are the first 6 pages I’ve ever created!
Ironicly, I think pages like these are the hardest.. Why?
Well.. I don’t know really.. I think it’s just a personal thing. When you have a big photo with so much room it’s kinda hard to decide where the text should be. It has to look good, not disturb the rest of the picture, not take over, be easy to read and not hide any clothes. (etc etc)
This particulair job was a bit more tricky than others since there was more than just one text, but it was so much fun!

Since I came to Femina i probably know 10x more about fashion and different brands haha. Not complaining! The sad part is that I’ve probably fallen for 10x more clothes now aswell, and I have no money!! Hahaha

Oh yea by the way, I added the femina logo on every picture ‘cause it felt kind of weird uploading photos from a magazine that just came out.. I hope it doesn’t disturb too much, let me know!

I must say looking at the cover I’m rather happy that this is the first magazine I’ve ever worked with.. Not many people have the luxury to work with such a “good” magazine right away.. I might just frame it <3 haha. On thursday/friday ill show you some of the layouts I’ve made. I think some of my swedish followers will be rather suprised. Femina has changed it’s looks a lot the last couple of years, from being a magazine that probably only women in my moms age would buy to a magazine that even women my age would love to buy and read!

I have no words.. or do I?

Oh my god! I just got a copy of the February number, with my first layouts EVER in it!
You have no idea how scary it is to open your first magazine and see your first layouts..
What if something’s wrong? What if it doesn’t look the same at all? What if it’s just plain ugly!? What if.. What if..What if.. Well, turns out everything looks just the way I imagined, but better! It’s weird to turn the pages of a magazine and all of a sudden see something you know you’ve made.. It’s.. Probably one of the coolest feelings I’ve ever felt.
Sure.. It may not be that big of a deal for some people, but it sure is a huge deal for me.

In a week the magazine is out and ready to be bought by thousands of women, and then I’ll show you some of my designs! Take care!

Long time no see! And I swear to god I have TWO decent reasons for why I never post anything anymore.. But before I tell you, I&#8217;m going to tell you how my apprenticeship has been so far. I love it. I love everything about it and i finally know precisely what i want to work with in the future. Layout is so much fun! Work (something I&#8217;ve always imagined would be tough, boring and slooow) is actually something I look forward to every day! I love the way things work at a magazine. How organized and yet &#8220;chaotic&#8221; everything is. And the best part of it all, that you work together with people as a team. The last few weeks has given me so much. The people at Femina really has tought me a lot and I&#8217;m learning new things every day. But the best part is probably that I finally have begun to believe in myself. I can do this! And it warms my heart everytime i hear someone say &#8220;very good job Antonia&#8221; or letting me know straight out that I have what it takes to become a really good graphic designer! Now for the two reasons on why I&#8217;ve been so quiet lately. The first reason is simple: I can&#8217;t show you guys anything yet. I have to wait for the magazine to be out in the stores before I can show off my work that&#8217;s in it. The second reason is that I&#8217;ve had so much to do! I start working at 8-9 and end at 4-5. Normal, I know.. But when I get home I just want to relax. I can&#8217;t wait to show you guys the pages that I&#8217;ve done so far though! The picture (bad quality again, sorry)  is of my desk at work! Magazines on top of magazines, papers with the new layouts I&#8217;m going to do and even more papers with the layouts that I&#8217;ve done already! And this pic is AFTER I&#8217;ve organized it. So I hope this will give you some more patience. Because new updates are coming, I swear! And with the layouts I&#8217;m going to give you some tips that I learned while doing them, so hang in there!

If this isn&#8217;t good news, then I don&#8217;t know what is.On monday next week I will begin my apparenticeship at Femina, Helsingborg!You have no idea what this means to me. It&#8217;s so hard to find a place that knows what they&#8217;re doing, and actually have the interest of teaching another person their skills. And the best part is; I love their design! The way they do the layout is just&#8230; Awesome!.. That&#8217;s the best way I can describe it, atleast for now.So this is my first homework, check the layout and learn about their magazine so that I know what they&#8217;re doing right away! &#8220;Reading&#8221; magazines as homework? I could live with that I suppose.. ;)(btw, I promise I&#8217;ll start uploading better pictures asap. I just need to make my macbook and my canon bff&#8217;s.)
